Divinity: Original Sin 2: Malady, Arhu and Zandalor

miniatureMalady was a half-elf, half-demon working with the Seekers — and another, unknown entity. She aids the Godwoken in their quest for Divinity, though her motives are not entirely selfless; she expects the future Divine to repay their debt once they take the throne, though the extent of that repayment remains unknown.

During the story, she plays a central role. She succeeds in opening a portal to the Hall of Echoes, allowing the entire ship and the surviving Godwoken to take refuge there after an attack that decimated much of the crew. However, the journey itself came at a high cost, and few survived it.

Due to her nature, she guides Lohse in her own quest to confront her demon, proving an invaluable ally when she grants her access to her demonic realm in order to weaken it once and for all.

Arhu

miniatureOriginally, Arhu* was a white cat. One day, he met Cassandra, the sister of Braccus Rex, who was imprisoned in her tower. In her kindness, she cared for him, but when that was no longer enough, she granted him consciousness and a human appearance. After spending many friendly days together, she decided to make this human condition more permanent in her presence. He still had the ability to take back his animal form, yet he enjoyed his new situation and developed a romantic relationship with his benefactress.

Unfortunately, things came to an abrupt end. Cassandra was taken by her own brother, the Source King, and transformed into a lich. In terror, Arhu tried to flee, but he was found by Braccus Rex’s minions and brought to their master. Mad with jealousy, Braccus imprisoned Arhu and deprived him of all freedom, though not of his love for Cassandra.

When the Source Hunters arrived — an ancient order of warriors tasked with hunting down Sourcerers a thousand years earlier — Arhu decided it was time to escape and search for his beloved. Thus, he helped her flee to spare her from death.

Later, Arhu worked for Zixzax the Almost-Wise, an immortal imp and historian appointed by the gods to chronicle all that has been, is, and will be. Arhu was also close to Zandalor and Lucian, whom he aided in his quest.

He would remain a close companion to the Divine, guardian of his secrets and his tomb, and would play an important role at the end of Divinity : Original Sin 2.

Arhu appears both in Divinity: Original Sin 2 and in Ifan's backstory in the graphic novel « Godwoken » from Larian Store.

*Arhu is a character that appears in almost every Divinity game.

Zandalor

miniatureZandalor the Wise* was one of the longest-lived humans in all of Rivellon, having reached the age of a thousand years. He was already a highly renowned and powerful sorcerer in the days of the Source Hunters, and the last guardian of the Source and its secrets.

He saved Lucian from certain death, even before the latter became the Divine. He sought to gather the Gods’ chosen in order to fight against the Black Ring. However, only Lucian managed to escape certain death. To make him the Divine, Zandalor needed to reform the Council of Seven, a group made up of one representative from each race, in order to perform a special ritual.

After succeeding — though not without hardship and sacrifice — in making Lucian the Divine, Zandalor became his chief advisor.

In Divinity : Original Sin 2, Zandalor was replaced by Dallis the Hammer, in order to add an antagonist related to Fane's story.

Even though he's absent from Divinity: Original Sin 2, Zandalor appears briefly in Ifan's backstory in the graphic novel « Godwoken » from Larian Store.

*Zandalor is a character that appears in some Divinity games, but doesn't appear in the last entry.
