Since his ascension as Divine, Lucian had been worshipped as a god by the seven mortal races. He founded the Divine Order, a powerful military organization composed of various divisions of soldiers, warriors, nobles, and paladins. Later came the Magisters — the largest division, made up mostly of commoners — and finally the Seekers, whose unwavering devotion was focused on protecting the ideals and lands tied to the Seven Gods. Before becoming Divine, a person may be chosen by their patron god to become Godwoken. Their god allows them to absorb and use Source to a certain extent. If the Godwoken succeeds in passing certain trials (such as the Path of Blood), they may ascend to Divinity, becoming the representative of the Seven Gods. Their power surpasses that of any other Godwoken, though still beneath that of a true god, as they remain dependent on them. This time, Lucian the Divine used a deathfog bomb to wipe out the members of the Black Ring — but in doing so, also annihilated much of the elven people who had given them refuge. The near-total extermination of the elves greatly weakened the power of Tir-Cendelius, which in turn weakened the Veil separating Rivellon from the Void. The remaining Source of Lucian and the Gods was no longer enough to maintain the Veil. As a result, Voidwokens began to cross over and invade the world. Le planTo restore the Veil, Lucian devised a plan: he needed to acquire as much Source as possible from the Seven Gods. To do this, he resolved to kill all living Godwoken and hunt down anyone who could potentially become one — hiring Roost Anlon of the Lone Wolves to track and kill potential heirs to the Divine throne. Lucian faked his own death and hid in a chamber beneath the Divine Throne. His apparent death was so convincing that even the Gods believed it, and began guiding new Godwoken toward the supposedly vacant throne. In the end, Lucian’s goal was to absorb all Source for himself, surpass the Seven Gods, and restore the Veil. Lucian appears both in Divinity: Original Sin 2 and in Ifan's backstory in the graphic novel « Godwoken » from Larian Store. *Lucian is the canonical protagonist of Divine Divinity.
