Divinity: Original Sin 2: Ifan ben-Mezd

miniatureOriginally from the desert region of Mezd and the son of spice merchants, young Ifan was traveling with his parents through the Dark Forest (“Teneb Tiriel”) south of Ferol when they were killed by bandits. The nearby elven tribe who lived there took him in and raised him as one of their own.
Later, he joined the Divine Order alongside the crusaders to protect the people of Rivellon and work in the name of justice. He became a close friend of Lucian, unlike Lucian’s son Alexandar, who harbored constant mistrust toward him.

After the failure of his mission during the Black Ring war, Ifan was deeply shaken. Wracked with guilt and harboring a deep hatred for Lucian — whom he could not forgive for not giving him time to save the elves — he joined the Lone Wolves and became a ruthless mercenary.

He hunted and captured many, becoming the infamous Silver Claw, a remorseless assassin. One day, a new contract arrived — his target was none other than his personal nemesis: Alexandar, son of Lucian and current head of the Divine Order.

To get close to Alexandar, who was often at Fort Joy prison and wearing a Source collar, Ifan had himself arrested. With his own sensitivity to Source, it wasn’t hard — one day, after consuming too much Drudanae, he used Source in public, earning himself a one-way trip to the prison island.*.

Once there, his plan was simple: find his contact, recover his weapon — the Shadow’s Eye — kill his target, and escape. Easy… right?

During his mission, Ifan met other Sourcerers — Fane, Sebille, the Red Prince, Beast, and Lohse — and discovered he was no ordinary man. Rhalic, the human god, revealed he was himself a Godwoken — the same that he was supposed to hunt and kill — just like his companions, each chosen by their own god… except Lohse. Could another human truly be Rhalic’s champion?

Keeping this to himself, Ifan joined his new allies on their quest for truth — and vengeance.

During his adventure, he learned the grim truth. What he had believed to be a portal capable of saving the elves was in fact nothing more than the deathfog bomb itself, along with its activation mechanism. Ifan had been deceived twice over. He had never been sent to spare them, but solely to kill them, in the hope that no member of the Black Ring would have the slightest chance of escaping.
