Divinity: Original Sin 2: Sebille Kaleran

miniatureSebille was an elf who, at a very young age, had been captured by Roost Anlon, the sadistic Lone Wolf, and enslaved by the Shadow Prince, a mysterious and ruthless lizard. After being branded with a red-hot iron, the living scar left on her cheek allowed her master to control her mind with nothing more than the humming of a song. Under his command, she was forced to assassinate members of her own people for years.

One day, however, she managed to break free from his control and escape. She swore to kill all those responsible for her fate, including the Master himself. Using a needle, she carved into her own flesh the names of all her previous victims. It was only a matter of time before the names of her next targets were added to the list. The first of these was none other than Stingtail, the lizard who had branded her with that cursed scar.

Sebille allowed herself to be captured and taken to Fort Joy in order to find Stingtail, who was there.

There, she also met Saheila, an elven seer who revealed to her that Sebille was an Elven Scion — in fact, the First Scion. As such, she was destined to take the place of the dying Mother Tree. The Mother Tree was an entity capable of centralizing the memories and thoughts of all living elves in the world. The elves obeyed the Mother Tree and dedicated their lives to it. Over time, however, the Mother Tree became corrupted by impure thoughts and the desire for vengeance against other races.

When the group, along with Sebille, finally encountered the Shadow Prince, she was ready. She entrusted the song of control to her closest companion to ensure she wouldn’t lose herself to the wrong person.
The Shadow Prince, a lizard with a black skin, revealed to her that the Mother Tree was evil and sought to spread its roots across the entire world to take control of it. He had used Sebille solely to kill each of the elven Scions before they could take the Mother Tree’s place. He then asked Sebille and her group to fulfill his final task: destroy the Mother Tree. If they agreed, he would provide them with a deathfog bomb to accomplish it quickly.

Saheila also insisted on the necessity of destroying the Mother Tree. She feared that the elves would lose their free will, and destroying it would restore freedom to all elves. However, in doing so, Sebille would likely become the enemy of the entire elven people…

Sebille's past before the events in Divinity: Original Sin 2 are stated in the graphic novel « Godwoken » from Larian Store.
